Small business ‘to face more red tape’, says Page
April 6, 2008
Small business in NSW will continue to suffer excessive red tape following the Iemma Government’s refusal to adopt the ‘one on-one off’ policy on new regulations, Shadow Minister for Small Business and Regulatory Reform, Don Page, said.
“It is very disappointing to have the NSW Labor Government specifically rule out a policy which requires a regulation to be removed if a new one is introduced,” Mr Page said.
“The ‘one on-one off’ policy of the NSW Coalition is supported by the small business community and acts as a form of discipline on bureaucrats intent on creating more red tape.
“The NSW Labor Government is all talk and no action when it comes to regulatory reform.
“Their rejection of the ‘one on-one off’ policy proves the NSW Government is paying lip service to the much-needed task of cutting red tape in this State.
“It is little wonder so many businesses are choosing to operate in other States given the NSW Government unfriendly small business policy.”
