Renowned songstress Sara Tindley will grace The Byron at Byron Resort on Mother’s Day.
Listeners of Triple J’s ‘Roots & All’ program and ABC Regional Radio are probably already familiar with Ms Tindley, as would be anybody who caught the East of Everything or Bondi Rescue series’. Her emotionally honest and poetic style blends folk and country.
Sara has performed at major festivals including Blues Fest, Splendour in the Grass, Gympie Muster and Tamworth.
Enjoy Sara Tindley, a three-course lunch, a glass of sparkling wine and receive a flower for mum at the stunning Byron at Byron on Mothers’ Day.

North Byron Parklands submissions tallied

The results of the public exhibition period for the North Byron Parklands proposal have been released by the NSW Department of Planning.
The proposal for a permanent sustainable cultural event venue on North Byron Parklands’ 660 acre site at Yelgun in the Byron Shire was on public exhibition for six weeks from October 7.
The Department received 4821 submissions in support of the proposal and 715 submissions were received against the proposal.
The Department also received a petition with 4160 signatures in support of the proposal and petitions totalling 25 signatures against the proposal.
“We are obviously happy with the results of the public exhibition period and we thank those who supported the proposal with all our hearts,” said Mat Morris, General Manager of North Byron Parklands.
Christmas in words and song

Nine Lessons and Carols, the story of Christmas in words and song, will be presented by a combined choir including choristers from St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Lismore, and St Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore.

- Sunday, 19 December, 7.30pm, St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Lismore.
- Tuesday, 21 December, 7.30pm, St Martin’s Anglican Church, Mullumbimby.

- Saturday, 4 December, 3pm, St Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Coraki.
- Sunday, 5 December, 8pm Church of the Good Shepherd, Bexhill.
The original service of Nine Lessons and Carols derives from a service which the clergyman E W Benson first gave in a wooden hut in Cornwall, UK, on Christmas Eve, 1880.
Splendour in the Grass receives prestigious Greener Festival Award

Splendour in the Grass has received a Commended Award for the 2010 event from the prestigious international Greener Festival Awards.
Australia’s iconic green festival, Peats Ridge Festival in Victoria, took out an Outstanding Award.
Ben Challis, Co-founder of A Greener Festival, said: “Festivals and music events play a key role in the fight against climate change and we applaud Splendour’s efforts to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, reduce waste and engage with music fans in changing to a more sustainable lifestyle.”
Environmental Manager for Splendour in the Grass, Environmental Scientist Mat Morris, was delighted the festival had been recognised at the international level.
Ngaiire returns home to be In Good Company

The In Good Company Open Air Music Festival organisers have announced Lismore’s own rising indie-soul star Ngaiire as headliner of the inaugural event.
Ngaiire spent her teen years in Lismore and shot to fame as a finalist on the top-rating commercial TV series, Australian Idol.
Bluesfest named Australian Event of the Year

Bluesfest from Byron Bay, one of the nation’s most acclaimed music festivals here and internationally, won the top prize as the Australian Event of the Year, in addition to being named Australia’s Best Cultural or Arts Event, announced at last night’s Australian Event Awards held at Sydney’s Olympic Park.
For the annual Bluesfest, a long-time pioneer of blues and roots music for 21 years and now held on its own site at Tyagarah, this recognition by industry peers came as a big surprise and is literally a dream come true.
