Bronwyn Winfield disappearance: $100,000 reward offered

Minister for Police Michael Daley today announced that a $100,000 reward would be offered to help Police solve the disappearance and suspected murder of Lennox Head woman Bronwyn Winfield.
Mr Daley said there are grave concerns for the welfare of the 31-year-old, who disappeared 16 years ago. “Ms Winfield was last seen at her Lennox Head home at 60 Sandstone Crescent on the 16th of May 1993,” he said.
Indigenous artists encouraged to enter Telstra Award

Indigenous artists from the New South Wales North Coast region are encouraged to enter their work in the 27th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award which is now open for entries.
In 2010 the Telstra Art Award will celebrate its 27th year and is the longest-running art award dedicated to the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
Tourism Australia Global PR Team visits Byron

Tourism Australia is holding their annual Global Public Relations Conference at The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa this week.
The public relations representatives, who arrived in Byron Bay this week (25 February), work to promote Australia as a tourism destination internationally and domestically. They are making the most of their first visit to Byron by undertaking a famil of Byron and the broader Northern Rivers region.
Month-long celebration of surf art and culture about to begin

Bert Berghuis retires after 22 years at Teven Tintenbar School

Teven Tintenbar Public School’s longest-serving teacher, Bert Berghuis, has retired after racking up an astonishing 22 years of teaching at the school, and having taught over 1000 local students.
Bert was presented with a retirement medallion by Greg Cloak, School Education Director, North Coast Region, at the school today.
Viv Richards proves a hit in Ballina

West Indian cricket legend Sir Viv Richards proved a hit with the crowd when he appeared as guest speaker at a function at the Ballina Seagulls Rugby League Club on Saturday night.
After a very funny warm-up of the crowd by co-speaker, former Australian paceman Rodney Hogg, Richards shared his thoughts on a cricket career which saw him dubbed the Master Blaster for his aggressive and entertaining batting.
Northern Rivers carpooling network launched this week

Around 3000 new students will get their first taste of university life with a host of orientation activities under way at Southern Cross University campuses from February 15 to March 12.
Student Affairs Officer Ann-Maree Wilkinson said orientation, which this year is themed ‘Activate’, marked the beginning of university life for new students and a big welcome back to returning students.
