AFLQ Under-14 Country Championships report
May 18, 2010
Brent Kelly, Regional Development Manager AFLQ, reports on the Under-14 SEQ Country Championships played on May 16:
Game 1 vs. Sunshine Coast Power
Score: 16.7.103-0.3.3
Game 1 saw us meet the strongest team of the carnival first up. The boys were jumped quickly and unfortunately were unable to respond. Their confidence took a hit very early and the stronger bodies and superior skill of the Power proved to be no match for our boys, some of whom are in their first or second year of football.
It was a good lesson for the Storm as they now see the standard of football they should be trying to achieve.
Best: M.Shaw, T.McDonald, J.Ward
Goals: Nil

Tigers, Swans win Junior AFL grand finals
September 21, 2009
Tweed Tigers and Lismore Swans yesterday won their respective Northern Rivers Junior AFL grand finals.
U/12s Tweed Tigers 12 – 6 – 78 d Byron Magpies 2 – 2 – 14
Right from the beginning Tweed got on top of Byron and went to the 1st quarter break 6 goals up.
The Byron players knew from the start this game was going to be tough going up against the minor premiers for this season but continued to play as a team, determined to make Tweed play hard for this win.
Tweed stayed in control and didn’t allow Byron to even make a score at all in the 1st or 3rd quarters.

It’s that ‘one day in September’ for four of the local junior teams in AFL Northern Rivers this weekend with the grand finals to be contested on Sunday, September 20, at Schulz Oval, Bangalow.
The Under-12 grand final is to be contested by the undefeated minor premiers Tweed Coast Tigers, the newest club in the competition, and the home team Byron Bay Magpies.
The Tigers are coached by Chris Masters and have the upper hand with big Kurt Skuse in the ruck and prolific ball-winner Michael Arnold in the middle.
