Mullumbimby make Retravision Northern League semis; Lower Clarence shock losers

Defending Retravision Northern League premiers Mullumbimby Giants are in, and Lower Clarence Magpies are out of the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League semi-finals after this weekend’s final round.
Lower Clarence were surprise 30-25 losers to Kyogle at Kyogle, and fell from third place to sixth place and out of the top five.
Mullumbimby went into the round in sixth place but equal on points with fifth-placed Tweed Coast Raiders and needing a massive win to boost their percentages.
This they achieved, wracking up almost a century in beating Cudgen 96-6 at Mullumbimby.

Retravision Northern League premiers Mullumbimby Giants will be looking to rack up a big winning margin when they take on Cudgen at Mullumbimby on Sunday in the final round of the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition.
The Giants are in sixth spot, equal with fifth-placed Tweed Coast Raiders on 23 points.
But Tweed Coast have the superior percentage rate — 146.15 to Mullumbimby’s 131.29 — and it is those percentages which will determine which side takes fifth and the final spot for the play-offs.
Grafton Ghosts, Byron Bay, Lower Clarence and Lismore Marist Brothers are assured of finals berths.
Marist Brothers beat Tweed Coast in Retravision Northern League

Lismore Marist Brothers stayed in the semi-final race and jeopardised Tweed Coast Raiders’ hopes with a 34-18 win in Retravision Northern League at Crozier Field, Lismore, today.
The win put Brothers in equal third in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition with Lower Clarence, while Tweed Coast now share fifth spot with Mullumbimby.
A loss today could have ended Brothers’ final hopes.
They now have the luxury of next week’s final-round bye and will finish the season on 26 points.
Lismore Marist Brothers, Tweed Coast clash in vital match

Lismore Marist Brothers and Tweed Coast Raiders will meet in the match of the round in Retravision Northern League on Sunday at Oakes Oval, Lismore.
It’s a crucial game for both sides as they jockey for top-five positions with only two rounds remaining.
Grafton Ghosts, leaders on 28 points, are assured of the minor premiership and the second chance it provides in the semi-finals.
But for the rest of the likely semi-finalists, the finishing order is still anyone’s guess.

Grafton Ghosts sealed the Retravision Northern League minor premiership with a 22-16 win over Lismore Marist Brothers in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League (NRRRL) competition at Grafton today.
The win puts Ghosts five points clear of Byron Bay, who were shock losers to Tweed Coast Raiders at Cabarita today.
With only two rounds remaining, Ghosts lead on 28 points, followed by Byron Bay and Tweed Coast on 23, and Lower Clarence and Marist Brothers on 22.
Defending premiers Mullumbimby are in sixth spot with 21 points after a 34-28 win over Lower Clarence at Mullumbimby on Saturday.

Lismore Marist Brothers overcame one hurdle with their 14-9 win over Kyogle in last night’s postponed Retravision Northern League round 15 match, but they face an even tougher task when they take on Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition leaders Grafton Ghosts at Grafton on Sunday.
A try to Brothers with just minutes remaining sealed last night’s thrilling win — a victory which has ended Kyogle’s hopes of a semi-final berth.
The win saw Brothers move to equal third with Lower Clarence on 22 points, four behind Ghosts and one behind Byron Bay.
Tweed Coast Raiders hold down fifth spot on 21, with defending premiers Mullumbimby the only other possible semi-finalist, two points behind.

Grafton Ghosts firmed as the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League premiership favourites with a thrilling 19-16 win over Byron Bay in Retravision Northern League at Byron Bay today.
The win gives the Ghosts a three-point buffer at the top of the table with three rounds remaining.
Byron stayed in second spot despite the loss, but Lower Clarence is now only a point behind them after a 56-6 win over Cudgen at Maclean.
Elsewhere, Grafton Rhinos halted Mullumbimby Giants’ resurgence with a 40-36 win at Grafton.
Retravision Northern League minor premiership on the line

The Retravision Northern League minor premiership could be decided this weekend when the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition’s leading two teams, Grafton Ghosts and Byron Bay Red Devils, clash at Red Devil Park, Byron Bay, on Sunday.
The two teams have swapped top spot this season and at this stage, Ghosts lead by point from Byron.
A win to the Ghosts on Sunday will put them three clear of Byron Bay.
Alternatively, a Red Devils win would put them back on top by a point, and facing a slightly easier run into the semi-finals.

Retravision Northern League fans have been invited to comment on the Retravision Centenary Team, and at the same time match their wits against those of the selectors.
Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League officials have compiled a list of 35 players which will be whittled down to 17.
Local fans can submit their final selection of the 17 players and if their team is the closest to that chosen by the selectors, they will have the chance to win a $200 voucher from Retravision.
The 35-man squad has been chosen from players who have represented Northern Rivers Division since its inception in 1981.
Byron Bay, Lismore Marist Brothers beaten in Retravision Northern League

Two major upsets were the highlights of Round 14 of Retravision Northern League, with competition leaders Byron Bay losing to Kyogle and Lismore Marist Brothers losing to Ballina.
The results see a new leader in Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League, with Grafton Ghosts moving from second to top spot.
Kyogle, who were in a must-win situation with their semi-final hopes on the line, played accordingly at New Park, Kyogle, today, beating Byron Bay 28-22.
At Ballina, where former Ballina premiership players from 1983 onwards gathered for a reunion, the home side looked anything but the last-placed team in the competition as they rattled the Rams, leading 16-0 at half-time before winning 20-8.
