Byron Bay is changing!

March 26, 2008

Byron is changingThere is absolutely no doubt that in recent times Byron Bay has been dramatically changing from an idyllic and somewhat hidden gem on the New South Wales north coast to a world wide destination for visitors and those escaping the hustle and bustle of the city.

If you talk to long-term locals they are finding living in Byron both expensive and crowded, however at the same time you can find endless opportunities for business and development.  I found this particular video on YouTube whilst trawling for a feature video that looks to have been put together by a local production company.

We would love to hear from anybody who lives in Byron, whether they are a long-term resident will have only been there for a short while as to what they think about Byron Bay in 2008.

Alright, so you wanna stop more tourists coming to Byron to live here, but how did all of you get here???? And how many of you are responsible for the development that’s happened in the last ten years? So you can move from the city, become a writer, graphic designer, artist, healer or naturopath, but no one else is now allowed to follow in your footsteps. You reap what you sow in your organic garden. Get over yourself, Byron is not about you or anybody else in particular, it’s about the natural beauty the place has to offer. A lot of people just come here to get away and relax, just like you did in the 70’s or 80’s! How many original Bundgalung or Arakwal locals appeared in your clip? Um…. NONE!!! How many foreign accents were there???? Let’s just claim Byron as our own as the English did way back when, in the name of self righteous bullshit. Hey Lennox is just down the road, let’s claim that as well.

Got something to say?
