Erin Brockovich visits The Byron at Byron
February 9, 2011
Erin Brockovich, whose life was the inspiration for the global smash hit movie of the same name, was a guest at The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa last week.
The company in Queensland Mrs Brockovich was representing recommended The Byron at Byron when her stay on Hamilton Island was cut short due to Cyclone Yasi.
She stole the hearts of staff and resort guests with her down-to-earth humour and friendly charm during her six-day stay (Erin left Sunday 6th February) in one of the resort’s Deluxe Spa Suites.
“She was delighted to be here and she did all the Byron things that one would expect, such as kayaking with dolphins and big-time shopping while enjoying the whole vibrancy of Byron Bay,” said John Parché, General Manager of The Byron at Byron.
“I took Erin up to the lighthouse at sunset last Thursday. She commented that she doesn’t normally get to enjoy such beauty, even though she lives on the west coast of the United States.”
Ms Brockovich made the most of the award-winning Byron at Byron Spa and Wellness Centre during her stay. “She singled out a couple of specialised treatments which she said made her feel a million dollars,” said Mr Parché.
“She was the most fabulous dinner companion who held the table in awe with her knowledge of environmental issues”.
Erin enjoyed dinner in the resort’s restaurant with eight friends of John and Lyn Parché.
“She is an extremely interesting person who travels the world on the speaker circuit representing clients and specialising in legal issues that impact on the environment. Erin also discussed the film which made her famous, including the Oscar award for Best Actress won by Julia Roberts,” Mr Parche said.
Mrs Brockovich was so impressed with The Byron at Byron that she extended her stay. She is now meeting with corporate and government representatives in Sydney and expects to visit Australia at least twice each year for the foreseeable future.
