The 24th Annual Bentley Art Prize to be held on August 1, 2 and 3 in the Bentley Public Hall (mid-way between Lismore and Kyogle) will offer more than $7000 in prizemoney for the 12 sections.
Major sponsors for the event are Tursa Employment and Training and the Casino RSM Club.
Tursa is sponsoring the Open Art Prize for $1000, and the Casino RSM Club $1000 for an Acquisition Prize.
This year there is a class for the Golden Oldies — residents in nursing, retirement, aged and day care.
There also will be photography and art classes for Primary and High School students, as well as Open Photography and Scrapbooking.
Entries have come from Perth, Bathurst, Albury, Maitland, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Judges this year for Art is David Lane from Fernleigh, Junior Art Brian Lucas of Bexhill, Photography Darcy McFadden of Goonellabah, and Scrapbooking Yvonne Smith, of Casino.
On the Friday night, 1st August, from 7pm there will be viewing of the art, plus wine and cheese tasting.
On Saturday there will be country music, with stalls operating around the hall. If you wish to have a stall, contact Helen Trustum on 6663 5283.
The official opening be at 2pm by Member for Ballina Don Page, followed by the presentation of prizes.
On Sunday there will be entertainment plus viewing of the art until 3pm.
Lunch and food stalls will be operating throughout the weekend.
