August 1, 2008
The Volunteer Rescue Association in Casino has received boost of more than $1800 under the Australian Government’s National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund.
The Federal Member for Page, Janelle Saffin, says the Casino VRA has received the funding for audio-visual equipment to provide video training for volunteers.
“This funding is about supporting volunteer organisations at the frontline of emergency management,” she said.
“The VRA squad provides vital road rescue services, helping people who are trapped in vehicles after accidents.”
The Attorney-General, Robert McClelland, has announced funding for a total of 183 projects around Australia in the latest round of the National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund.
Ms Saffin said volunteers in our local communities played a crucial role in response and recovery in the event of emergencies and disasters.
