John’s pumpkin weighs in at 67kg

March 25, 2012

This is John Leadbeatter from Rukenvale, who had his pumpkin weighed in at 67kg at the Kyogle Bazaar’s weigh-in of “Grow Kyogle’s Biggest Pumpkin” on Saturday at Kyogle Showground.

The Bazaar congratulated John on his wonderful first effort at growing a giant pumpkin to this size against all odds with a very wet summer.

Carved and decorated pumpkins were very popular with the crowd and they were used at the country music and dance event with Shorty and friends in the evening.

Harmony Walsh (pictured) took out the prize for the most unusual use of pumpkin with pumpkin ice cream which is a family favourite.

“The growers are already planning their next years growing season so the Bazaar management group will be busy keeping up with their efforts and we look forward to seeing what next March brings’,”a spokeswoman said.

“The tips and learned experiences were plentiful so we should see even bigger and better specimens next year.”
