Police renew appeal for assistance over Tweed assault

Police at Tweed Heads have renewed an appeal for public assistance following a serious assault in January.
On Sunday 13 January 2008, a 26-year-old woman from Banora Point went to Tweed Heads Police Station after an alleged assault in bushland near Leeward Terrace and Tooloona Street.
Investigators later issued a description of a man who may have been able to assist with inquiries.
He was described as being aged in his late 20s or early 30s with dark hair, of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, around 178-183cm tall with a skinny build.
Investigators received a number of inquiries from members of the public in relation to their appeal, and in particular, an anonymous caller contacted Crime Stoppers and provided information in relation to a male who may have been able to assist with inquiries.
Police have renewed their appeal for information from any member of the public who may have seen a man and woman in bushland near Leeward Terrace and Tooloona Street around 4am on Sunday 13 January 2008.
Investigators urgently need to speak again with the anonymous caller who contacted Crime Stoppers following the appeal for information in mid January.
