Assistance sought from public over Tweed robbery

August 5, 2008

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a service station at South Tweed Heads last month.

About 8.54pm on Wednesday 9 July 2008 a male entered a service station on Minjungbal Drive (near Shallow Bay Drive) at South Tweed Heads and demanded money, threatening the attendant with a crow bar.

The attendant handed over a sum of cash from the till and a safe located elsewhere on the premises.

The thief then left the service station, and was last seen heading north on foot.

Police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries into the incident.

He’s described as being of white/European appearance, 18 years old, and of slim build.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing blue track pants and a grey hooded jacket. He was also carrying a black backpack and a crowbar.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or the current whereabouts or identity of the man who may be able to assist with inquiries, to contact Tweed Heads Police on 5536 0938 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

In particular, investigators would like to speak with an anonymous male caller who has previously contacted Crime Stoppers and provided information about the man’s identity.
