Police are appealing for information following a break and enter and kidnapping at Byron Bay this morning

About 4am a 61-year-old Byron Bay woman was working alone inside a café on Clarks Beach when a man forced entry and threatened her with a weapon.

It’s alleged that the man stole a number of items from the premises before forcing the woman to assist him with loading the items into her four-wheel-drive.

The man allegedly drove the woman to a remote location in Byron Bay and forced her to help him unload the items.

The woman was then allowed to drive from the scene.

Police would like to talk to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of white/European appearance, of slim build, around 175cm tall, aged in his late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a ski mask.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing and investigators are urging anyone who has information about the incident or who noticed anyone behaving suspiciously in the Clarks Beach area last night to contact Byron Bay Police on 6685 9499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
