Ballina male, 17, charged over man’s assault in Lismore

Lismore detectives are seeking any witnesses to a serious assault that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 17-year-old Ballina male has been charged with Malicious Wounding with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm and with Malicious Wounding of a 30-year-old Ballina man.

It is alleged the victim was alerted to damage to his vehicle around 12.45am on Sunday morning by young persons.

When he went to investigate the damage to his vehicle, he entered into a conversation with the alleged offender.

After a minor scuffle between the youth and the victim’s girlfriend, the youth has allegedly confronted the victim with a sharp object, cutting him around the head and neck.

The male victim was taken to hospital where he was admitted to surgery for his injuries and is now in a stable condition.
