Man arrested over serious assault of Murwillumbah male

A man has been arrested and charged following a serious assault at Bilambil Heights during the early hours of Saturday, leaving a man hospitalised with serious injuries.
About 12.30am on Saturday, a 21-year-old Upper Crystal Creek man was travelling in a car with a 25-year-old Murwillumbah man and a female.
The trio were driving along Scenic Drive when it is alleged an argument started between one of the males and the female.
The other male attempted to intervene and an argument commenced between the two males.
The car was stopped and the two males stepped out of the car and continued to argue before a physical altercation began.
It is further alleged the 21-year-old man threw a punch towards the 25-year-old man, causing him to fall heavily to the ground and rendering him unconscious.
The man was conveyed to Tweed Heads Hospital and later transferred to Gold Coast Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
About 1.30pm yesterday the 21-year-old man was arrested and charged at Tweed Heads Police Station with reckless wounding causing grievous bodily harm.
He was granted bail and is due to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on 3 November, 20008.
