Byron Shire Council in conjunction with the youth services group SAILS (Sailing Adventures in Life Skills Inc) are holding an affordable sailing day in Brunswick Heads on Saturday 31 January.
Byron Shire Council’s Community Development Officer, Robyn Masters, said the sailing day was back by popular demand and is the second time the council has subsidised and held the affordable family fun day activity.
“Aimed at young people and families, the sailing day was a tremendous success last year and booked out very quickly. The professionalism and good spirit of SAILS volunteers guaranteed that everyone had a fantastic day,” Robyn said.
“The family activity is designed for all ages to experience the excitement and fun of sailing, kayaking or just hanging out on the water.”
All equipment is supplied and participants will learn how to sail a Hobie Cat, kayak and canoe on the Brunswick River.
Launch-off will be at Massey Green Caravan Park Reserve, Brunswick Heads, on Saturday 31 January from 10am to 2pm.
The event is restricted to 50 participants and costs $10 per person over the age of 5 years. There will also be a sausage sizzle lunch provided by a local charity for a small cost.
Bookings are essential and can be made with Byron Shire Council on 02 6626 7178.
