A boy has saved his three-year-old sister in a near drowning incident at Bilambil yesterday.
About 3.20pm the three-year-old girl was swimming in the backyard pool of her home in Carool Road, Bilambil, with two other girls, aged nine and 12.
The toddler’s 10-year-old brother then discovered his sister face up in the pool and not breathing. He dragged her to the side of the pool and commenced CPR.
The boy managed to save his sister’s life using skills he learnt from the television program Triple Zero Heroes.
Ambulance officers arrived and conveyed the toddler to Tweed Heads Hospital for observation. She is expected to make a full recovery.
Police have praised the boy’s efforts and will be recommending him for commendation.
