Bushfire donations stolen in Evans Head armed robbery

Police are appealing for information after cash including donations for the Victorian Bushfire appeal were stolen during an armed robbery of a bowling club in Evans Head last night.

About 10.30pm, three men entered the bowling club on Beach Street, Evans Head, armed with a knife and a plank of wood.

It is alleged the men threatened staff members and demanded they open the safe before tying them up and stealing a large amount of cash.

The money stolen also included donations as part of the Victorian Bushfire appeal.

The three men fled the scene on foot before police attended and a crime scene was established.

The three men are described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged in their twenties. All were wearing black balaclavas, black jeans, black jackets and running shoes.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information about the robbery or anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the three men to contact Lismore Police on (02) 6626 0599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
