YES to hold registration meeting for PowerShift conference
May 20, 2009
The Youth Environmental Society (YES) in co-operation with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) is holding a registration meeting on Friday, May 22, for the PowerShift conference.
An AYCC initiative, PowerShift is a youth event focused on the climate change, sustainability and giving youth a greater voice in environmental issues.
YES is trying to organise a contingent of youth from the North Coast to travel to the conference in Sydney, which will be held from the 11th to the 13th of July.
“After highly successful incarnations in both the USA and UK, Australia is following suit, holding our first PowerShift conference in Sydney,” AYCC Regional Representative and YES Steering Committee member Sasha Hunt said.
“This is a great opportunity for the youth of Australia to get up and make a difference for the environment.
“Not only will PowerShift bring them up to date with many current global climate issues, there will be workshops, seminars, presentations from climate change experts, a GreenJobs fair, and a massive concert on the Saturday night.”
YES are organising transport and accommodation for any youth interested in attending this event, and any further details will be provided at the registration meeting at Lismore Library at 5 pm on Friday the 22nd.
