Irish tourist Niall McDonough reported missing at Byron Bay

Police are appealing for the public’s help after an Irish tourist went missing at Byron Bay.
Niall McDonough, 30, was last seen by his girlfriend at their youth hostel about 9pm yesterday, when he left to go for a walk.
About 7am, today some of his belongings were found on a chair near the Cape Byron Lighthouse.
Police initiated a search of the headland and surrounding waterways, with the help of Surf Rescue, a rescue helicopter and a local helicopter. At this stage (Saturday, June 13) he has not been found.
Investigators hold concerns for the man’s welfare.
Mr McDonough is described as being of white/European appearance, 170cm, medium build, ginger hair and was last seen bare-chested, wearing grey jeans and runners.
