Police from the Tweed/Byron Local Area Command are appealing for help to locate a pregnant woman, missing from Tweed Heads.
The 37-year-old woman, who is six months pregnant, was last seen by her husband about 11.30 last night (Saturday 27 June) leaving her boat which was moored at a hotel’s marina on Wharf Street.
Officers believe she exited the wharf through a security gate leading to the public car park area, and intended using toilet facilities located at the front of the hotel.
Police are currently carrying out an extensive search of the area, including canvassing for witnesses and deploying police divers to check surrounding waters.
Police hold grave concerns for the woman’s welfare due to her pregnancy, the proximity to water and the fact that her disappearance is out of character.
The woman is of Indian descent and 170cm tall, with a medium build, dark brown complexion and black hair. She was last seen wearing grey track suit pants, a black top and wearing silver slip-on shoes.
Investigators are seeking information from hotel patrons or members of the public who may have seen a woman fitting this description in the vicinity of the hotel last night, or since that time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Tweed Heads Police Station on (07) 5536 0999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
People can be assured that their call will be treated in the strictest confidence and they may remain anonymous.
