Man killed in Coolangatta Airport helicopter crash

One person is dead following a helicopter crash on the New South Wales/Queensland border.
About 10.25am today, New South Wales and Queensland police and other emergency services responded to reports of a helicopter crash at Gold Coast Airport, Coolangatta.
Initial investigations suggest that a helicopter crashed near a runway and within the confines of the airport.
The male pilot died at the scene. No other person was injured during the incident.
A crime scene has been established and investigations are being carried out by officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command.
Police have notified the Air Transport Safety Bureau, which will assist in the investigation.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
