Drivers arrested, swapping seats during police pursuit – Ballina

Two occupants of the one vehicle have been charged after allegedly changing seats during a police pursuit this morning.
About 7.30am, a highway patrol vehicle from the Richmond Local Area Command observed a Holden Commodore travelling the wrong way down a one-way street in Lismore. Police attempted to stop the vehicle which subsequently drove off at high speed.
Whilst pursuing the vehicle, police will allege they observed the driver, a 30-year-old man, switch seats with the front passenger, a 23-year-old woman.
During the pursuit, police will allege the car travelled well above the sign posted 100kmh speed limit.
Police successfully deployed road spikes about 15km south of Ballina in Wardell. The two drivers of the vehicle were both breath tested and conveyed to Ballina Police Station.
Both were charged with driving in a manner dangerous and mid-range PCA, whilst the female was also charged with driving unlicensed.
At the time of the incident the pair had three passengers in the rear of the vehicle.
