Police charge man following glassing assault at South Grafton

Police have arrested and charged a man following a glassing assault in South Grafton yesterday.

At 5.15pm, a 30-year-old man was in the games area of a pub on Through Street when another man holding a schooner glass struck him to the left side of the head.

Police will allege the 32-year-old man walked outside where he was involved in a confrontation with other patrons prior to police arrival.

A crime scene was established at the pub, with specialist forensic officers conducting examinations of the scene.

The 32-year-old was later arrested and taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries before being taken to Grafton Police Station this morning.

He was charged with reckless wounding and was refused bail to appear at Grafton Local Court on Monday 31 August.

As a result of the assault the injured man was taken to Grafton Hospital where he received a number of stitches to his head.

Investigations into the assault are continuing.
