49-year-old motorcyclist killed near Lismore

Investigations are continuing into a crash at Lagoons Grass, near Lismore, which has claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
About 2.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 2 September) a man was riding a black Suzuki 1200SK motorbike north along Bangalow Road, near the Lagoon Creek Bridge.
Police have been told a vehicle travelling ahead of the motorbike in the same direction had stopped to turn right into a driveway, whilst a second vehicle slowed.
The 49-year-old motorbike rider, approaching the rear of the two vehicles, also slowed but lost control and slid into the southbound lanes before colliding with an oncoming car.
The rider, from Spring Grove, sustained extensive injuries and died at the scene. A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out in the coming days.
Police Rescue officers and paramedics attended the scene, as well as crash investigators from Richmond Local Area Command.
A crime scene was established and investigations conducted at the location.
Inquiries into the crash are continuing and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
