Baptism of fire for rookie of the year
October 2, 2009
Rookie tight head prop, Adam Thomas, took away the Rookie of the year at the Presentation Night for Ballina Rugby Union Club (BRU).
Adam, who had his 21st birthday during the year, played the entire season in first grade. In presenting the award, first grade coach Andrew Grant-Frost praised his physical and mental toughness. Noting that Adam had been on the end of some rough treatment at the hands of much older and experienced players during the year he never backed down.
A man of few words, Adam thanked the BRU scrum coach, John Doktor for this expert tuition during the season and in an ominous sign promised to come back bigger and stronger in 2010.
