Richmond MP welcomes university campus expansion

October 13, 2009

justineMember for Richmond Justine Elliot today welcomed the approval by the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Anthony Albanese, for the construction of a second building at the Gold Coast Airport campus of Southern Cross University.

“I supported the construction of the new $50 million building as not only will it provide an immediate economic boost through the construction phase, but it also provides additional educational infrastructure for our region,” she said.

“Our community will benefit from the improved teaching facilities, a skilled workforce and from the economic activity generated by such infrastructure projects.

“The project means that locals will have a better opportunity to access tertiary education locally.”

The new building will include lecture and teaching spaces, faculty offices and student facilities and is expected to be completed in 2012.
