Police investigate Casino Golf Club armed hold-up

Detectives are conducting inquiries after a gunman held up the Casino Golf Club overnight.

The man confronted an employee and security guard at the rear of the West Street premise about 10.30pm yesterday (Thursday 15 October) and forced them back inside the club at gunpoint.

The offender ordered the employee to open a safe before removing a sum of cash.

He then tied up both victims and fled the scene in the guard’s car.

The victims managed to free themselves and contact ‘Triple Zero’.

Police from Richmond Local Area Command attended the scene a short time later and secured a crime scene.

Specialist forensics officers will today examine the club for evidence.

Investigating officers are now seeking public assistance as they attempt to track down the offender.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his 30s, with an obese build.
