Spill accident at Dungay Creek
November 16, 2009
An accident has occurred this afternoon where a liquid waste truck has driven over a private bridge in Dungay (west of Murwillumbah) which collapsed.
The truck is currently in Dungay Creek.
Tweed Shire Council would like to advise all properties downstream from 361 Dungay Creek Road to refrain from drawing water from or utilising the creek for recreational purposes until further notice is given by the council.
This does not affect the Tweed water supply in any way, only residents downstream of the Dungay Creek property.
Council Environmental Health Officers are attending the site, however at this stage it appears that only a small amount of liquid waste has been released into the creek.
