Brunswick, Pottsville get Saluting Their Service funding

Richmond MP Justine Elliot today announced that $6240 in funding from the Rudd Government will go towards honouring the service of veterans in the electorate of Richmond.
Ms Elliot said the funding had been approved by the Minister for Affairs, Alan Griffin, as part of the Saluting Their Service commemorations grants program.
“Saluting Their Service has helped fund initiatives such as preserving and displaying wartime memorabilia, updating security at memorials, repairing vandalised memorials, establishing new community memorials where none exists and commemorating significant wartime anniversaries,” she said.
The Pottsville RSL Sub-Branch will receive $4000 to install a nominal roll in Anzac Park, and the Brunswick Heads/Billinudgel RSL Sub-Branch will receive $2240 to install a display case and gun display board.
“Saluting Their Service provides funding to assist community and ex-service organisations honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our nation proudly in wars, conflicts and peace operations,” Ms Elliot said.
“I am pleased the Rudd Government has been able to support these projects and I congratulate the Pottsville RSL Sub-Branch and the Brunswick Heads/Billinudgel RSL Sub-Branch for their efforts in ensuring the contributions of our ex-service personnel are honoured and remembered.
“Local communities and ex-service organisations can apply for funding to help support projects and initiatives honouring Australia’s wartime history.”
