Work on local road black spots complete
November 18, 2009
Member for Page Janelle Saffin says work is now complete on safety upgrades at a number of high-risk black spots in the Page electorate, with funding coming from the Rudd Labor Government’s Economic Stimulus Plan.
Details of the projects recently completed are:
- Summerland Way, 19 kilometres north of Kyogle: $49,000 for curve improvements.
- Lismore to Kyogle Road, 14 kilometres south-east of Kyogle: $15,500 for curve improvements.
- Kyogle to Murwillumbah Road near Sargents Road, Cawongla: $270,000 for minor curve realignments and guard rail improvements.
- Fords Bridge on Eden Creek Road near Wyneden: $77,000 for curve improvements and shoulder widening.
Additionally work is almost complete on the intersection of Casino and Lismore Streets, South Lismore: $180,000 for improvements to the roundabout.
These projects were recommended by a panel of independent road safety experts.
“When I travelled the Lismore to Kyogle Road last week I saw for myself how the completed road works had improved the safety of what had been a dangerous part of the road,” Ms Saffin said.
“I congratulate the NSW Government for moving so quickly to put our economic stimulus money to work supporting jobs and fixing dangerous black spots on the State’s local roads.”
