Police from Casino have arrested and charged an 18-year-old itinerant man near Rappville allegedly driving a stolen motor vehicle, and say the arrest should have significant impact on recent offences in the Casino area.

Around 6am on Monday the male was stopped by police.

He was allegedly driving a blue Charade sedan which was reported stolen, in an easterly direction along the Bruxner Highway Casino, exceeding the sign-posted 60km area, about 200m west of Cassino Drive.

The male was arrested and further investigations conducted.

As a result the male was charged with a number of offences in the Casino and Rappville areas during the past several weeks.

Charges laid include:

  • 3 x Break, Enter & Steal
  • 4 x Take & Drive Conveyance (stealing a motor vehicle)
  • 1 x Malicious Damage
  • 1 x Trespass
  • And multiple traffic offences including being an unaccompanied learner driver.

The charges relate to stolen motor vehicles; and break, enter and steal offences on local business houses, a motor vehicle dealership, a school, hotel and a community organisation within the Casino/Rappville area.

Police believe the arrest should have significant impact on recent offences in those areas.
