Lennox National Surfing Reserve chips in to help ASR
December 3, 2009
Australian Seabird Rescue today received a $500 donation from the Lennox National Surfing Reserve Association.
The money was raised from sales of a commemorative booklet produced to mark the opening of the surfing reserve in February 2008, and other fundraising activities.
The donation followed similar ones to Angels Beach Dunecare and Lennox Head Landcare groups.
Association chairman Phil Myers and secretary Mike ’Spider’ Heeson attended ASR headquarters at Ballina today to make the presentation to ASR chairman, Keith Williams.
Keith welcomed the donation, saying that ASR relied heavily on the goodwill of community to keep its vital work going.
The association representatives told Keith that they might have further donations to make – they are planning a Coastal Lifestyle Expo at the Ballina RSL Club next November and ASR, along with the Dunecare and Landcare groups, will be beneficiaries.
