Grants available for textile, clothing and footwear small businesses

December 3, 2009

Member for Richmond Justine Elliot has announced that $2.5 million in grants will be made available to small businesses in the Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) sector, in a new funding round for the TCF Small Business Program to open Wednesday, 9 December 2009.

She urged all local small businesses in the textile, clothing and footwear sector to apply.

“The Rudd Government is committed to supporting small to medium TCF businesses, and revitalising Australia’s small business textile, clothing and footwear industry,” she said.

“Through the TCF Small Business Program, businesses can apply for grants of up to $50,000 a project, which will boost the competitiveness of smaller Australian designers and manufacturers in domestic and overseas markets.

“The program will promote innovation in mentoring, marketing and branding, supply chains, e-commerce and export opportunity development by small designers and manufacturers.”

“Businesses that are enterprising and innovative are those best able to respond to tougher market conditions. I urge all local small businesses to take advantage of this program.”
