A fire continues to burn in bushland to the west of Cabarita Beach in Bogangar and Tanglewood area, but the fire at Jacky Bulbin Flat near Iluka has been contained.
“The fire continues to burn to the east of Tanglewood Drive, over Round Mountain,” the Rural Fire Service said.
“While conditions have eased overnight, forecast conditions today are expected to cause erratic fire behaviour.
“There is the potential for properties in Bogangar to come under threat if the fire continues to spread over Round Mountain.
“Smoke may affect visibility on Tweed Coast Road, therefore motorists are advised to proceed with caution due to fire crews working in the area.
“Clothiers Creek Road is closed at Cabarita beach due to back-burning operations in the area.
“People in the area should continue to monitor the situation. Follow the advice of firefighters.
“Activate and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan.
“If the fire is approaching and you have doubts about your ability to protect your life and home, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.”
The RFS says the fire in the area of the Pacific Highway at Jacky Bulbin Flat, north of Yamba, has been contained.
“Firefighters have now contained the fire and there is no immediate threat to property. Crews will continue to monitor the fire, mopping up and blacking out as required,” the RFS said.
“The Pacific Highway is open.”
