Splendour cheque hand over to Saint Finbarrs and Byron HighTwo cheques from parking operations at Splendour in the Grass were handed over last Tuesday to two very grateful recipients.

Saint Finbarr’s and Byron Bay High School have taken advantage of the Splendour parking fundraising opportunity for the past two years. This year each school received $5190 from Splendour.

“We want to say thanks to Splendour organisers for the opportunity to be involved in such a wonderful fundraising event,” said John Wilson, principal at Saint Finbarr’s School.

“The photo shows what wonderful resources the school is able to purchase for our students as a result of the fundraising opportunity that Splendour has provided. We will certainly feel the loss if they are not able to come back to Byron Shire.”

The school parents volunteered to work in the carpark next door to Belongil Fields during the two-day festival and in return they received the parking proceeds, less some of the expenses associated with the set-up and operation of the carpark.

Ian Davies, relieving principal at Byron Bay High School, said: “We are really appreciative of the relationship we have with Splendour and the significant amount of money that was raised. This will really benefit our school. A special thanks to the P&C Association for the work that they do.”

Darcy Condon, general manager of Splendour, said: “It’s been great to have this arrangement which benefited all parties. A huge thanks to the parents and others in the community who put in the hours and stepped up to help out these two schools.”
