Man charged after alleged sexual assault at East Ballina

A man will appear in court charged over an alleged sexual assault in East Ballina yesterday.
Police will allege that about 12.10am on Tuesday 12 January, a 38-year-old Ballina man and an 18-year-old South Lismore woman drove to Shelly Beach at East Ballina where the man sexual assaulted the woman.
The man allegedly left the scene and the woman sought assistance at a nearby residence where police and ambulance were contacted.
About 7.40am yesterday police attached to Richmond Local Area Command attended a work site at North Ballina where they arrested the 38-year-old man.
He was taken to Ballina Police Station where he was charged with sexual assault. He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Ballina Local Court on Thursday 28 January 2010.
