Three men charged after cannabis seized during vehicle stop at Woodenbong

February 20, 2010

Three men will appear in a North Coast court next month after police seized almost eight kilograms of cannabis from a car near Woodenbong.

Acting on information received, police from Richmond Local Area Command stopped the Nissan Patrol four-wheel-drive on the Clarence Way, five kilometres west of Woodenbong, about 10am yesterday (Friday 19 February).

Three men were removed from the car and a search of the vehicle allegedly turned up two large duffel bags containing 7.7kg of cannabis, with an estimated street value of $67,000.

A number of other items were also seized by police.

The trio – aged 29, 36 and 49 – was arrested and taken to Kyogle Police Station and subsequently charged with possession of a prohibited drug and possession of drug implements.

They were conditionally bailed to appear in Kyogle Local Court on 11 March 2010.

Investigations are continuing.

Anyone who has information on the manufacture or cultivation of prohibited drugs or their supply is urged to contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a reward of up to $1000.
