Two killed in New Italy crash; Pacific Highway closed south of Woodburn

Police are appealing for motorists to delay travel on the Pacific Highway between Maclean and Woodburn following a fatal collision early this morning.
Shortly after 8am, police and emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, 15km south of New Italy.
Initial investigations suggest two vehicles crashed head-on on the highway.
As a result of the crash, two people died at the scene. Two others have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
The Pacific Highway is closed while investigations take place. Police are urging drivers to avoid the area where possible and take alternate routes.
The highway is expected to be closed for several hours. Local diversions are in place.
