Body discovered at Tallow Beach

Police in the Tweed/Byron Local Area Command will prepare a report for the Coroner following the discovery of a man’s body on Tallow Beach this morning.
About 6.30am (Thursday 13 May 2010), police received an anonymous phone report of a body washed up on Tallow Beach at Byron Bay.
Upon arrival, police discovered a deceased male, believed to be aged in his 30s. Police are currently establishing the identity of the deceased.
For the past two days, police have been conducting a search for an American national who was reported missing after swimming at Tallow Beach on Tuesday 11 May, 2010.
A crime scene has been established. Police from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command are examining the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. A post mortem examination will be conducted and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
