Members of the Tenterfield community are being advised not to be concerned this weekend when they see an increased presence of emergency service personnel.

Exercise Saddler, a multi-agency counter terrorism exercise, which will be conducted on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 May, is a discussion exercise, an agency capability display and a field deployment exercise designed to test the agency response arrangements to a terrorist incident.

The Ambulance Service-led exercise will include more than 100 personnel and resources from the NSW Police Force, NSW Fire Brigades, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, NSW Health, and Observers from the Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Health.

The exercise is being conducted under the auspices of the NSW Counter Terrorism Exercise Steering Committee Drill Style Exercise Program and is the first exercise of its kind to be conducted in regional NSW.

The discussion exercise and capability display is being held at the Rural Fire Service Co-ordination Centre at Tenterfield (not open to the public), on Friday, while the exercise is being conducted on a property on the outskirts of town.
