Police have arrested and charged three men over the armed robbery of a club last night at Lismore.

Just before 9pm, a female bar attendant was locking up the club in Nielson Street, East Lismore, when she was confronted by two men, allegedly armed with a rifle, who had smashed their way through a glass panel.

The men forced the 47-year-old employee to lie on the floor as they stole the takings.

It’s alleged they fled the premises in the company of two other men.

The woman was not injured, although she suffered shock as a result of the hold-up.

Police from the Richmond Local Area Command responded quickly to the robbery and a short time later, located one man in a car and a second in a neighbouring street.

Officers later attended an address in Phyllis Street, Lismore, and arrested a third man.

Police allegedly recovered the stolen money during the arrests.

The local men, aged 23, 24 and 26, were taken to the Lismore Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery whilst armed and in company.

They were refused police bail and ordered to appear before the Lismore Local Court later today.

Investigations are continuing and police are maintaining their search for a fourth alleged robber.

Anyone with information about the matter is urged to contact Lismore Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
