Police from Tweed/Byron are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body on the banks of the Tweed River yesterday.
The discovery was made by a passer-by about 6pm (Monday 23 August 2010) on the bank of the river about 100m east of Broadwater Esplanade in Bilambil Heights.
Police believe it may be the body of an 85-year-old man who was reported missing to police over a month ago on July 16.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the man’s identity and cause of death.
At this stage police believe there are no suspicious circumstances.
