Police attached to the Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command are examining the cause of a fatal single-vehicle crash at Cangai yesterday afternoon.
About 3.30pm a Ford Falcon sedan was travelling west along the Gwydir Highway, just past of the Diggers Creek overpass. It appears the driver lost control of the car, veering off the road and careering up an embankment, before rolling back onto the roadway.
The driver, a 48-year-old man, died at the scene.
Police attended and a crime scene was established.
Investigating officers are now appealing for public assistance as they examine the cause of the crash.
