Detectives are appealing for public help after thieves stole a safe during a break-in at a Ballina shopping complex.

Sometime between 8.30pm last Thursday (14 October) and 8.15am on Friday (15 October), unknown persons gained entry to a clothing store at the Kerr Street shopping centre.

The offenders stole a safe containing a sum of cash during the incident.

Police from Richmond Local Area Command were alerted to the break and enter on Saturday and attended the scene.

A crime scene was secured and examined by forensics officers.

Local detectives are continuing their inquiries into the incident and are now appealing for public help.

They have released closed circuit television images of two men they believe might be able to assist with their investigation.
