A man is undergoing treatment in hospital after being ‘glassed’ during a pub fight at Murwillumbah.

Two men were drinking in an outdoor area of a hotel on Wharf Street, Murwillumbah, about 3pm yesterday (Thursday 28 October), when they became involved in a physical altercation.

During the incident, one man allegedly punched the other to the left side of his head.

The victim suffered a deep laceration to his cheek after an empty schooner glass the offender had been holding shattered over him.

Police from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command and NSW Ambulance Paramedics responded to the incident.

The injured 42-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Murwillumbah District Hospital for emergency treatment.

He has since been transferred to the Gold Coast Hospital for further surgery.

The offender left the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Detectives are continuing their inquiries to identify and locate the offender.
