A man wanted on a string of outstanding warrants has been arrested by police following a seven-kilometre foot pursuit in the state’s north.

Police from Richmond Local Area Command’s Target Action Group and the Dog Unit attended a residence on Hillsdale Drive at Muli Muli, near Woodenbong, about 7am on Thursday (28 October).

As the officers approached the house, they allegedly spotted the 29-year-old male occupant fleeing out the back door.

Police pursued the man on foot for approximately seven kilometres across several paddocks, a creek and through bushland before arresting him near Martins Road.

He was taken to Lismore Police Station and charged with 18 offences, including:
§ Eight outstanding warrants;
§ Assault occasioning actual bodily harm;
§ Destroy or damage property (three counts);
§ Threaten to destroy/damage other persons property
§ Common assault (two counts);
§ Attempt choke etc with intent to commit indictable offence;
§ Offensive conduct while upon non-prescribed inclosed lands; and
§ Resist officer in execution of duty;

The alleged offender appeared in Lismore Local Court and was remanded in custody to reappear on Tuesday 7 December 2010.
