Northern Rivers workers blitz North Coast Training Awards

Northern Rivers employees have blitzed the 2008 North Coast Regional Training Awards.
After a record number of entries, the NSW Department of Education and Training in conjunction with NETPAC announced the winners of the 2008 North Coast Regional Training Awards at a gala presentation dinner held in Coffs Harbour.
Across a broad range of categories, seven of the 11 winners were from the Northern Rivers region including:
Apprentice of the Year: Amy Morton of Hutley Brothers Butchery in South Lismore.
School-Based Apprentice of the Year: Joshua Pauling employed by HGT Australia Ltd, hosted by Ballina Shire Council.
Small Business of the Year: Sally Clarke, Headroom Hair Artisans, Ballina.
Employer of the Year co-winner, Northern Co-operative Meat Co Ltd of Casino.
Vocational School Student of the Year, Jamie Everson of Casino RSM Club.
Norm Beaton Memorial Award for Automotive (Mechanical), Alexander Ewart from Laurie Predebon Truck Repairs, South Lismore.
North Coast VET Assessor of the Year, Maureen McCullough from TURSA Employment & Training in Tweed Heads.
The 2008 North Coast Regional Training Awards is held annually to recognise the hard work and dedication of the best and brightest vocational students, trainers and employers on the North Coast.
“NETPAC gratefully acknowledges the financial assistance towards our Regional Awards from our sponsors with support from many local organisations including our major sponsors TURSA Employment & Training and Central West Community College Australian Apprenticeships Centre,” a NETPAC spokesperson said.
