Far North Coaster weekend surf report

A strong north-wester has made conditions unfavourable today, but there’s promise for the weekend.

The swell has risen overnight to about 5 foot today and the forecast is for a further increase.

Winds for the weekend are forecasted to be from the west south-west, easing on Saturday afternoon, with a moderate south-wester on Sunday.

Marine weather forecast:

Today: W/NW 15/20 knots, increasing to 25/33 knots during the afternoon. Sea: rising to 2.5/3.5 metres. Swell: SE 1.5/2 metres.

Outlook Saturday: W/SW 20/30 knots easing to SW/SE 10/15 knots. Sea: 2/3 metres abating to about 1 metre. Swell: SE 2/2.5 metres.

Outlook Sunday: SW 10/15 knots tending SE/NE 5/10 knots.

Outlook Monday: NW/NE 8/13 knots.
