A three-try effort by winger Matthew Aherne has helped Lennox Head advance to the preliminary final of the Coopers Far North Coast rugby union competition.

Lennox head beat Wollongbar Alstonville 33-8 in Saturday’s minor semi-final at Wollongbar and now will play the loser of the major semi-final between Lismore and Coolangatta Tweed, to be played in Lismore next Saturday.

In the Village Competition grand final, Bangalow beat Evans River 10-8.
